News
In the first six months of 2017, 313,500 Russian tourists travelled to Vietnam. This is a rise of 53.4% from the same period last year, reports the Association of Tour Operators of Russia citing data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
Russian tourism flows to Vietnam rise by more than 50%
In terms of percentage growth, Russia has surpassed Vietnam’s traditional markets: Taiwan (+22.9% - 298,000 tourists), Malaysia (+15.9% - 231,500 tourists), USA (+9.3% - 320,000), and Australia (+10% - 181,000).

The positive tourism statistics come in the wake of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s comments in June that relations between Russia and Vietnam have “entered a new phase”. Medvedev was referring to the fact that in October 2016, Vietnam was the first country to enter into a free trade agreement with members of the Eurasian Economic Union.
