Why exhibit at MITT 2019?

It’s one of the world’s top five travel exhibitions, annually bringing together destinations and travel service companies from across the globe to meet with Russian industry professionals looking for new and exciting opportunities to offer their clients.

Tourism in 2018: where are Russians travelling?

Following a bumper year for the Russian outbound travel market in 2017 – seeing an impressive 25% increase in foreign trips – we take a look at the figures for the first six months of 2018.

5 ways the Russian outbound tourism market differs from others

Russia: a country with a vast population – over 140 million – and close proximity to Asia, Europe, and Central Asia. Not only is this already a huge travel and tourism source market, but demand for foreign travel is on the up. In 2017, outbound trips rose 25% compared to 2016.

Destination focus: Greece

Traditionally, Greece has been a hugely popular summer destination for Russian tourists. Last year, however, the Mediterranean nation attracted 856,000 Russian holidaymakers, a 10% rise on 2016 and there’s even more growth expected for 2018.

Exhibitor case study: Valencia Tourism

The region of Valencia on the Spanish east coast saw a sharp rise in Russian tourists last year. With the historic city of Valencia, coupled with beach destinations such as Alicante and Benidorm, the region offers a wealth of gastronomic, cultural, beach, and sports holiday opportunities. It’s easy to see why it’s a tourist hotspot.

New exhibitor case study: Visit Azores, Portugal

The Azores – an archipelago formed of nine volcanic islands off the west coast of Portugal – has a rapidly evolving tourism industry. As an autonomous region of Portugal, this year Visit Azores joined the Portuguese national stand at MITT 2018 to promote the destination to the Russian outbound market.

New exhibitor case study: Uniktur, Norway

Norwegian inbound tour operator Uniktur is based in Ålesund, a port town often referred to as the Norwegian Venice thanks to its many canals and bridges. In 2018, Uniktur exhibited at MITT for the first time.
