A remarkable country, Spain has the third largest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites worldwide, and ranks first in the world by the number of biosphere reserves (48), and second by the number of geoparks. Spain has 684 blue flags (confirming the good condition and quality of services) and in 2017 managed to once again lead the world ranking of Blue Flag beaches, meaning that each of the six flags in the world flies on the Spanish coast.

Spain occupies a leading position as a vacation country in terms of tourist numbers and revenue. According to the National Institute of Statistics of Spain (FRONTUR), in 2018 the country received a record number of foreign tourists, 82.7 million people, which is 1.1% more compared to 2017. Spain is an attractive and popular holiday destination for Russian tourists.
