Power supply
220 volts AC, 50Hz.

Telephone calls
International calls from Russia: the international code when phoning from the Russian Federation is 810 followed by the country code (without 00).
Calling Russia: the country code for Russia is +7. The area code for Moscow is 495.

Money
1 Rouble (RUR) = 100 Kopeks.
Notes are in denominations of RUR 1000, 500, 100, 50, 10 and 5. 
Coins are in denominations of RUR 5, 2 and 1. 

Currency exchange
Currency exchange must be carried out through official bureaus or authorised banks (banking hours: Mon-Fri 9.30 — 17.30). All transactions must be recorded on the currency declaration form which is issued on arrival. It is advisable to keep all exchange receipts. Large shops and hotels offer their own exchange services. Euros and Dollars in perfect condition are the easiest currencies to exchange.

Credit cards
Major credit cards, such as American Express, Visa and Diners Club, are accepted at large hotels and at foreign currency shops and restaurants, but Roubles are preferred. Credit card companies will give details regarding acceptability and other services that might be available.

Travellers’ cheques
Travellers’ cheques are not advisable, but can be taken in US Dollars.

Business customs
Suits and ties for men are essential for official business. Visitors are advised to bring business cards as exchanging business cards is extremely common.

Office hours
Mon — Fri 9.00 — 18.00 
Lunch tends to be at least one and a half hours.
